Jay Papasan and KellerINK’s newest book has finally hit bookstore shelves, but the work behind Rookie Real Estate Agent started nearly ten years ago as a single question:

What do the most successful real estate agents do in their first year that others don’t?

It’s 4:15 p.m. on Friday and your client is on the proverbial ledge about the inspection happening next week. They need to know every detail about the process and want reassurance that it will all go according to “The Plan.” Lucky them. That’s because you, as their fiduciary, know exactly what to say to ease their fears.

What does attaining financial wealth mean to you? 

As we journey toward financial goals, one essential question to ask ourselves is why we want more money. Financial wealth means owning assets that generate money for you, and in doing so, leverages your time to allow you to live out your purpose. So, if we don’t have enough money to finance our calling in life, then we haven’t achieved financial wealth.

Did you know that many of the top agents and leaders in real estate are actually introverts? I’ve been working with introverted agents since 2018, and there are still many misconceptions about introversion out there. People assume introverts are anti-social, shy, or simply not suited for a people-business like real estate. Of course, that’s just not true. 

To many people, being a perfectionist means being confident, focused, and decisive. The truth is often the opposite. On one hand, we brag that perfectionism motivates us to work longer hours and maintain laser-like focus. On the other hand, we use “perfectionist” as an insult for someone who is rigid and sets unrealistic standards for themselves and others. 

When we asked hundreds of successful agents what they think is the most common mistake agents make, almost all of them gave the same answer: new or nervous agents think they have to be an expert at everything to do anything. These successful agents refuted this MythUnderstanding universally.

If there's anything you can count on when hearing a story about someone’s rise to fame, it’s that they probably went through a period of failure. No matter what industry, sport, or medium, the best learned from their failures and the failures of others. 

When you think about luxury real estate, you probably think of sprawling, glass-encased estates in the Hollywood Hills, á la Million Dollar Listing or Selling Sunset. You think of designer-laden agents flitting around open houses with champagne in-hand while schmoozing the ultra-wealthy. This is, of course, not always the case.
