Top Five Takeaways from Mega Agent Camp 2024

Another amazing Mega Agent Camp and CEO Summit is officially in the books. And with it came several insights that inspired us to think differently about our businesses and lives. Here are KellerINK’s top five takeaways from this year's event.

1. Tough Times Are Guaranteed

At CEO Summit, Gary Keller, Jay Papasan, and Jason Abrams talked about tough times. If we are lucky to live long enough, tough times are guaranteed. How we set ourselves up to be tough and handle tough situations, however, will change how successful we can be. The key to this is counterbalancing stress and recovery on a regular basis. These “stress tests” help us build toughness so that we can be stronger when it matters.

Think about how you work out your muscles. Muscles physically tear when you lift heavy weights. And then, during rest and recovery before you hit the gym again, they reknit and are stronger. This workout-rest-workout approach is how to get the best gains. The same idea can be applied to life. All work and no play will make you stuck in a coping cycle from which you never fully recover. But if you’re only cruising and never exposing yourself to stress, you won’t grow. It’s all about finding that counterbalance.

2. Don’t Wait Until the End of a Transaction to Get Referrals

Author Brittany Hodak also spoke at CEO Summit. She explained how to create customers who generate more customers, and outlined four rules for earning more referrals in your business:

  1. You can earn referrals long before the deal closes.
  2. Experience is everything and everything is experience. The deal closes but the experience continues.
  3. Ask and you will often receive. Combine a high-tech and high-touch approach.
  4. If you want to earn more referrals, give more referrals.

The bottom line to Hodak’s presentation was that if you don’t take care of your customers, someone else will.

3. Reach Matters More Than Results

At Mega Agent Camp, author and strategist Rory Vaden gave a keynote. He asked a question with a surprising answer:

What do you think matters more, results or reach?

Most of us would think results are most important. But it’s actually reach. If people don’t know about you, they can’t do business with you. Reputation precedes revenue. You simply can’t deliver the results you want if you aren’t reaching enough people to do business with. Focusing on marketing yourself and creating a massive personal brand is key to reaching the right audience and achieving your business goals.

4. Find Your Missing People

Complementing Vaden’s idea, keynote speaker author Phil M. Jones emphasized that it’s important to know what customers you are looking for. If you’re not choosing your clients, they are choosing you. He gave the example that if you lost your kids at the mall, you’d go to security and give a clear description to get your exact children back. You wouldn’t just settle for any kids they handed over to you. If you want to find your missing customers, you need to know how to find them. You can do this by asking two questions:

  1. Who are the people you are looking to serve?
  2. What are the challenges you’re looking to help them overcome?

Ultimately, people are looking for specialism, and you need to be able to have and showcase a specific skillset in order to serve your clientele to the highest degree.

5. Win the Morning, Win the Day

This isn’t the first event where “win the morning, win the day” (WTMWTD) has come up. Jen Davis shared this idea at Mega Agent Camp 2023 and, like all good ideas, it has stuck. That’s because if you intend to have an amazing career, it’s an idea that you must embrace. The real meaning behind WTMWTD is that win the day is the goal, and winning the morning is how you achieve it. It allows you to break down your big goals and gives your day focus. It takes a goal and makes it bite-sized and allows you to be accountable and establish boundaries. When you string a bunch of won mornings and days together, that equals successful weeks, months, years, and lifetimes. Remember, how you start the day determines how you finish it.
